The Chateau is the town's landmark and after Prague Castle it is the biggest of its kind in Bohemia. The Chateau stands on a rock overlooking the Vltava River. Český Krumlov was originally a castle, which was later converted into a large Renaissance chateau and later reconstructed, again in the Baroque style.
